In addition to being your trusted, go-to brand for superior CBD products, we want to provide information that will help you maximize your CBD experience so you can be your best you. Below are answers to your most frequently asked questions about CBD facts.
Cannabidiol or CBD is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in cannabis (both marijuana and hemp) reported to offer various therapeutic benefits. CBD oil from industrial hemp plants has high levels of CBD while having low levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). For this reason, it is non-psychoactive and can’t get you high. Because manufacturers use an assortment of cannabis plants and preparation techniques, the amount of CBD in products can vary significantly. CANVIVA produces a phytocannabinoid-rich, full spectrum CBD oil with less than 0.3% THC. We also clearly mark how much CBD is in every product.
CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are both cannabinoids found in industrial hemp and marijuana plants.
CBD and THC bind to cannabinoid receptors in your body to help regulate many of its vital functions. THC binds differently, resulting in the psychoactive effects or “high” commonly associated with smoking or consuming marijuana. However, CBD does not bind with this receptor in the same manner. Well tolerated, and believed to be safe and effective, CBD should not produce any psychoactive effects.
CANVIVA™ CBD products are made with hemp-derived cannabinoid oil that is phytocannabinoid-rich, full spectrum, and organically grown in the U.S. Our industrial hemp oil contains less than 0.3% THC.
Scientifically, industrial hemp and marijuana are the same plants, with a genus and species name of Cannabis sativa. Industrial hemp is always a strain of Cannabis sativa, while marijuana can be Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, or Cannabis ruderalis. The difference is how industrial hemp has been bred compared to the marijuana form of Cannabis sativa.
Marijuana has high levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and low levels of CBD (cannabidiol).
Industrial hemp, on the other hand, has naturally high amounts of CBD and low (less than 0.3%) amounts of THC. For this reason, the cannabinoid profile of industrial hemp is ideal for people looking for therapeutic benefits without the worry of getting “high.”
Uses for industrial hemp include herbal supplements, food, fiber, rope, paper, natural plastic, and so much more. In contrast, marijuana is usually used recreationally, spiritually, and medicinally.
The 2018 Farm Bill legalized Industrial Hemp cultivation in the U.S. as long as the hemp contains less than 0.3% THC and the producer complies with state and/or federal regulatory programs. Marijuana remains federally illegal.
Hemp seeds are often used as an ingredient in food and body products found in grocery and other retail stores. They are high in protein and nutrients, but hemp seeds contain almost no CBD.
CANVIVA tinctures contain whole-plant ethanol extracted CBD oil. The oil features a full spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other naturally occurring compounds.
Most important, this extraction process uses food-safe ethanol, which makes it safe for consumption. Plus, this extraction process is one of the best for preserving these beneficial compounds. In addition to cannabinoids and terpenes, full spectrum CBD also contains a variety of essential vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, protein, chlorophyll, flavonoids, and fiber.
Terpenes are organic hydrocarbons found in the essential oils of plants. They can be broken down into sweet, sour, spicy, or bitter. These chemicals give plants, including cannabis, unique scents and flavors.
Common terpenes found in cannabis include Myrcene, Linalool, Limonene, Alpha-Pinene, Beta-Pinene, and Trans-Caryophyllene but they vary by strain. Additionally, many CANVIVA CBD products include essential oils and natural ingredients containing additional terpenes.
According to CannaInsider, “Terpenes have been used for thousands of years by cultures around the world for their healing properties and as cannabis science expands, the possibilities to help more people becomes increasingly exciting.”
With more than 100 terpenes identified in cannabis, it’s easy to see how full spectrum CBD, containing the naturally occurring cannabinoids and terpenes found in the cannabis plant, may be a better alternative to CBD alone. And, as research continues, custom terpene and cannabinoid profiles will help provide consumers with increased options.
Derived from coconut oil, MCT oil (medium chain triglyceride) is odorless, colorless, and liquid at room temperature. CANVIVA blends our CBD extracts with MCT oil to make them easier to metabolize. Please consult your doctor or veterinarian in case of a coconut allergy.
For the best results, store your CBD oil product in a cool dark area to assure there is no loss of potency. CANVIVA packages all of our tinctures in amber glass bottles to protect and ensure the quality of their contents from both visible light and UV rays. However, you should not allow CBD to sit in direct sunlight. If properly stored, your product has an approximate one-year shelf life.
Choosing safe CBD products for yourself or a loved can be difficult, especially when it comes to laws. CANVIVA works hard to keep you up to date with answers to the most frequently asked questions about CBD legal issues.
Not all CBD is legal despite the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. CBD derived from cannabis plants with more than 0.3% THC (marijuana) remains illegal under federal law.
CBD is only legal when derived from hemp (containing less than 0.3% THC) and produced by a licensed grower, consistent with federal and state regulations. CANVIVA tinctures are made with hemp-derived cannabinoid oil (less than .3% THC) that is phytocannabinoid-rich, full spectrum, and organically grown in the U.S.
The FDA prohibits businesses from making therapeutic claims about the health benefits of CBD. It is currently illegal to sell foods or dietary supplements containing CBD.
We strongly recommend that you check with your state government, local police department, or customs office for the most up-to-date information regarding the legality of CBD.
Yes, in March 2019, the USPS announced that CBD can legally be mailed nationwide as long as it is derived from hemp, not cannabis, and contains less than 0.3% THC.
While CBD is legal across the U.S. if it contains less than 0.3% THC, you still need to be careful about looking up the rules and laws wherever you go. Other than that, the only consideration is just how much CBD you’ve packed. If you plan to carry on your CBD product, the same rules apply as with other liquids and substances. You cannot bring anything hazardous or flammable aboard. You also have to keep your liquid contents under a certain amount. If you are still uneasy about clearing TSA checkpoints, transport your CBD products in your checked baggage.
The hemp oil in our products contains CBD, which is a LEGAL cannabinoid from industrial hemp. It contains minuscule amounts of THC (less than 0.3% THC) that could show up on a drug screen.
CANVIVA cannot guarantee that you will or will not pass a drug screen due to the number of variables. Drug screens vary, and some can be more sensitive than others. Most companies only search for the cannabinoid THC, which is the main psychoactive component of the marijuana plant.
By law, you are allowed to ask the facility what cannabinoids they check for during testing. We suggest contacting the testing facility if there is any concern. If you have to take a drug test, it might be best not to use CBD products.
Yes, you can work and carry on with normal activities while taking CBD products. Many people take CBD products specifically because they do not produce the unwanted side effects of prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
Our CBD tinctures contain less than 0.3% of THC and will have no psychoactive effects on your body. Because CBD may promote relaxation, we recommend learning how your body reacts to CBD before driving or operating heavy machinery.
Since CBD contains less than 0.3% THC, it is not considered marijuana. Therefore, you do not need a prescription or card to purchase it.
Choosing safe and effective CBD products is important. Knowing how to use them is too. Below are answers to your most frequently asked questions about CBD Use.
CBD is usually safe and non-toxic even in high doses.
Studies show doses up to 1500mg per day, 150 times the 10mg standard dose, have been well tolerated in humans. In rare cases, some people have reported feeling tired, light-headed, or having a dry mouth.
CBD may inhibit drug metabolism, much the way grapefruit does. Please consult a physician before using CBD products if you are taking any prescribed medications or have any concerns. Do not take if you are pregnant or nursing.
Please consult your health care professional about potential interactions or other possible complications before using any CANVIVA CBD product.
Grapefruit and CBD have a similar effect on P450, an enzyme found in the liver, which metabolizes different kinds of drugs in the human body. If taken in large doses, CBD can inhibit the metabolizing properties of P450, temporarily neutralizing the effects of other medicinal products in the body’s system. This side effect is also responsible for why cannabidiol counteracts the effects of THC.
A review on the safety and side effects of cannabidiol finds that CBD might interfere with hepatic drug metabolism and in vitro cell viability; decrease fertilization capacity; or the reduced activity of p-glycoprotein.
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is our body’s primary regulatory system. Cannabinoid receptors (CBr), along with naturally-occurring cannabinoid-like chemicals called endocannabinoids, and enzymes form the ECS
The ECS is not an isolated system like the digestive or respiratory system. Instead, it is spread out throughout our body on nearly every organ. Responsible for homeostasis or keeping our body functions in balance, it may affect everything from sleep, appetite, pain, inflammation, memory, mood, and reproduction.
Plant substances, phytocannabinoids, can also stimulate or interact with your ECS. To date, there have been over 100 cannabinoids discovered in cannabis. The two most well known are THC and CBD.
Found to influence the endocannabinoid system, CBD is best known for inhibiting the enzyme FAAH, leading to an increase in the amount of anandamide in the brain. Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive and has very little binding affinity with the endocannabinoid receptors.
Other natural plant compounds, particularly terpenes have actions that are complementary to phytocannabinoids. These compounds work together in what is known as the entourage effect.
The FDA does not permit any CBD manufacturer to make claims suggesting their products are intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of disease or that the products are intended to affect the structure of any function of the body. We encourage our customers to review the considerable information and testimonials found online concerning the potential benefits of CBD.
CBD stays in your system for approximately 3 to 5 days, but its effects only last about 3 to 4 hours.
In a study conducted by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, patients took extremely high doses of 700mg of CBD per day for six weeks. When patients stopped dosing for one week, no CBD was detected in the patients’ blood. Therefore, for moderate to light users, the time that CBD oil will stay in your system is around 3 to 5 days, with about a week being the maximum.
Factors that may influence how long CBD stays in your body include, but are not limited to age, weight, diet, metabolism, genetics, and environment. The same is true for oil tinctures, balms, serums, and roll-on gels.
Each of our products has a different recommendation for how to use it and how much should be ingested or applied topically.
One of our most popular products is CBD oil tincture. CANVIVA tinctures have a higher concentration of CBD compared to our topical products, therefore, should be taken in smaller doses. CANVIVA tinctures come with a dropper which allows users to take carefully measured amounts.
Tinctures can be taken sublingually by dropping them underneath the tongue and holding it there from 1 to 5 minutes. Some research has found that this delivery method makes cannabinoids more readily and consistently available to the body than other oral alternatives. You can add tinctures to cold or room temperature food or drinks. They can also be applied directly to problem areas or mixed with your favorite moisturizer.
Since the skin is an excellent semi-permeable membrane, you can apply our topical CBD products – either our balm or roll-on – onto the affected area. Gently massage CANVIVA’s SOOTHE CBD Oil Balm on trouble spots or try the convenient ball applicator to apply RELIEVE CBD Oil Roll-On Gel where needed.
Whatever CBD product you use, begin with a minimal dose, and proceed from there. If you notice results, you can reduce the dose, or you can always increase the dose until you achieve your desired results. The key is to increase your dosage in small increments so that you can pinpoint how much CBD will support you goals. You do not want to exceed the dosage and end up developing a tolerance to the active cannabinoids.
Be advised that you should not exceed the recommended daily doses listed on the product. Consult a physician if you have any concerns. And, please refer to each CANVIVA product for more information.
“Current evidence shows that cannabidiol is not likely to be abused or create dependence as for other cannabinoids (such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), for instance).” Read more here.
CBD products should not affect your appetite.
There is no high euphoric feeling when you take CBD (cannabidiol) as opposed to THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).
It is up to you how often you use the product. However, CBD does tend to work better with daily maintenance dosages and extended use.
We recommend using a daily maintenance dose of one of our CANVIVA CBD oil tinctures. We developed CANVIVA RESTORE CBD Oil Tincture with Turmeric and Ginger to use as part of your workout regimen. Pair it with CANVIVA RELIEVE CBD Oil Roll-On Gel after your workout for maximum benefit.
CBD is not known to irritate the digestive system, so you do not need to ingest it with food or water.
