Borrelia mayonii is gram-negative and belongs to the family of Spirochaetaceae of bacteria kingdom; it is also one among the bacteria that are responsible for causing Lyme disease. This bacterium is capable of infecting humans as well as animals like Tick. Borreliamayonni was discovered as a Genospecies of the bacteria called Borreliaburgdorferi. Genospecies are the organism with a similar core and are not capable of undergoing any genetic recombination. Two isolates of Borreliamayonii are sequenced in the form of a long continuous chain and compared with the genome of borrelia burgdoferi, and it was found that it has a similarity of 93.83% with known species and yet Borreliamayonii was considered as new genospecies. It consists of about 1.31 Megabase pairs (Mbp) along with around 26.9% of guanine and cytosine content. It comprises of around 15 plasmids, out of which eight are linear, and seven are circular. As it is an obligate parasite, the outside host of metabolism is still unclear. However, Borreliamayonii consists of a type of nucleotide, but still, its use is not known. But according to the Integrated Microbial Genomes (IMG) system, it can synthesize a variety of proteins and amino acids.
